Recreating the UCI Counseling Website
As a UCI student, navigating through the UCI Counseling Center website has been a difficulty despite UCI having abundant resources for mental health care.
In this project, our team of 5 UCI students researches on current problems about UCI Counseling Center web navigation by developing both low and high fidelity prototypes.
About Me
Hello! I’m Kelly Tsao and I am a psychology major at UC Irvine. Although most of my studies are dedicated to how humans develop physically and mentally, I have always enjoyed the creative side of life, whether it be through designing, editing, calligraphy, and even music.
Many might ask, “What is a psychology major doing with UI/UX?” How can I contribute to this field? Through my studies, I have learned a lot about humans perceive images. Something as simple as color can be the deciding factor to an audience’s satisfaction. In addition, learning about the physiology behind disabilities can also help a designer make website tools more accessible.
Like many others, my passion for designing started on pen and paper. Drawing was never a bore and eventually I even started to make letters and words into eye candy. I would teach myself how to draw letters through Instagram reels in order to make posters and calligraphy art for my peers.
Now, websites and templates can make that art for you. I realized that designing is not just about making things pretty, but more convenient. I hope I will continue to learn and contribute throughout my design journey!
